I have to say I was pretty impressed by the Oscar fashion. Sure, there were the usual boring moments or the oversexed looks but there was also a lot of beautiful, interesting styles walking down the red carpet! And to think I was ready to be disappointed!
Diane Kruger in Chanel!
Carey Mulligan in Prada. If you look closely you’ll see that the details include scissors and spools! I love that she chose a fun, whimsical take on a traditional dress for her first Oscars. I think it really set the right tone!
Rachel McAdams in Elie Saab
Anna Kendrick also in Elie Saab
Sarah Jessica Parker in Chanel. I know a lot of people really hated this dress but I liked the front as well as the crystal broach in the back. She took a risk and if it wasn’t for the spacey hair I think she’d be on more best dressed lists. What do you think?
Zoe Kravitz in Alexis Mabille
and finally the effervescent Maggie Gyllenhaal in Dries Van Noten

I think Rachel MacAdams and Elizabeth Banks had the best dresses. Anna Kendrick's was pretty, but that blush hue really washed her out. 🙁 I also thought that Zoe Saldana took a significant risk and that the color of her Givenchy was just brilliant with her skin tone. Carey Mulligan's Prada was cute, but safe. If I were her stylist I'd have put her in an icy blue, or a deep crimson… something that would have popped. I think she definitely had the best shoes, though! <3
I love your picks,
and I agree there were some really fabulous dresses this year.
Fab new header! 🙂
I loved SJP too! People expect her to wear high fashion, and she did and she did WELL! 🙂
This was a great year for Oscar fashion! There really were a small handfull of misses- everyone was gorgeous!! My fave was Sandra Bullock, and I loved JLo's, Maggie Gyllenhall and Carey Mulligan.
