After months of speculation we finally know what Carine Roitfeld’s post-Paris Vogue first step will be!
She’s signed on as Barneys guest editor and stylist for A/W 2011/2012!
As far as I can tell she’s basically free-lancing (something she wasn’t really allowed to do at Paris Vogue) which means she’ll be able to do this as well as any other project she chooses.
But what does this job entail?
She’ll be styling and editing Barney’s fall advertising campaign, catalogue, and email newsletters along with being in charge of the store’s infamous Madison Avenue window displays! On the retail side, it seems Ms. Roitfeld will also be advising Barneys buyers or at least be their muse for the direction of what they’ll be carrying for the season.
Plus, there may be a short film to coincide with the fall campaign
Carine told WWD that this opportunity is a dream come true, “For me, Barneys has always been the biggest name in luxury department stores, so to be able to participate in this project with them, and be visible during the next fashion week in New York, is my dream come true. To a French girl, it’s a big, big dream.”
