IT'S FINALLY HERE! - Bostonista

This morning at the press preview Anna wore altered Marc Jacobs Fall 09
Tonight is the night I’ve been obsessively waiting for even though I’m in Boston and lack an invitation…the Costume Institute’s annual gala at the MET to celebrate it’s summer exhibit.
This year the exhibit theme is MODEL AS MUSE: EMBODYING FASHION curated by Harold Koda and Kohle Yohannan and opening to the public on Wednesday (May 6) until August 9th.
But of course the beautiful people get to see the exhibit early tonight while wearing the most amazing fashions on the planet and not eating their (probably) 10 grand per plate dinner.

Normally a huge star studded event I’m hoping that the red carpet focus will be on the models more than usual and not boring style-less girls like Jessica Biel (who will be wearing her boyfriend’s line, William Rast. Thanks Justin Timberlake.)

Marc Jacobs (who is acting as host next to Anna Wintour tonight) is said to be dressing co-host Kate Moss in his own collection.
So who else is arriving with who and who will they be wearing? Here’s what I’ve heard:

Narciso Rodriguez is taking (and dressing) Lily Donaldson.
Jessica Stam will be arriving with the Mulleavy sisters and wearing their line, Rodarte.
Gisele is ditching Tom Brady (for the night anyway) for John Galliano and one of his Dior gowns.
Diane Kruger will, of course, be in Chanel but is bringing her beau Joshua Jackson (also in Chanel) not Karl Lagerfeld.
Halle Berry will be in Calvin Klein while Jason Wu is dressing Jessica Alba (a definite downgrade from Michelle Obama, yes?)
And we can expect some red carpet antics from Isaac Mizrahi and his date, Coco Rocha!
Designers, supposedly, have been asked to customize their designs from gowns to minis so we can all get a good look at those long model legs.
Madonna and Kerry Washington will be in Louis Vuitton which makes sense since it seems that Madge’s LV contract will be extended.
Also in Marc Jacobs? Anne Hathaway, Rihanna, and Winona Ryder.
Dior: Marion Cotillard, and Jessica Szohr
Burberry: Twiggy and Agyness Deyn
Stella McCartney: Liv Tyler, Kate Hudson and Kate Bosworth
There seems to be some confusion over what Helena Christensen will be wearing with some reports claiming Marc Jacobs and others Zac Posen. We’ll have to wait and see tonight!
For me, the Costume Institute Gala is more exciting than the Oscars!
I’ll be updating as pictures and info comes in tonight!
