Jean Paul Gaultier F/W 2009!

What do you get when you cross nineties grunge with forties pin ups? Jean Paul Gaultier’s Fall 2009 collection!

It’s not really a surprise that I would love this since it includes all of my favorite things: masks, hoods, furs, boots and drinks!

Theatrics ensued with a (planned) cat fight between Coco Rocha and another model that only ended when a dominatrix cracked her whip! Between models attacking, PETA protesting outside, and alcohol on the runway you might think that there wasn’t much room for amazing clothing. But you’d be very wrong.

Bondage was a clear theme throughout the collection like with the hooded trench coats, and the harness straps decorating cocktail dresses and X motifs on everything from silk shifts to kimono-esque gowns. The best part of the collection were Gaultier’s androgynous but very wearable suits. And while sexuality was evident it was never over the top or cheap.
