Met's Costume Institute Gala - Bostonista
This year the Metropolitan Museum’s Costume Institute’s exhibit is American Woman: Fashioning A National Identity so the gala was co-hosted by the most iconic American brand- no, not Ralph Lauren and no, not Calvin Klein but the Gap!
I suppose the Gap has helped fashion a national identity in the last 25 years or so but not exactly the height of American glamour. It also led to some awkward designer “for gap” collaborations except of course none of the collaborations made any real sense and in the end it was really just one of the designers usual looks.
…ANYWAY…
Oprah (!) also co-hosted the event along with Anna Wintour and she encouraged everyone to go see the exhibit at the MET this summer.
I always looks forward to the Met Gala because after the annual disappointment of Oscar fashion you know that everyone will be going all out with over-the-top fashion for the Costume Institute!
Unfortunately, this year was a little bit of a let down.
I’ve read many people blaming the theme of the exhibit for the lack of exciting fashion choices but American women have been at the forefront of style for the last century!
Well, even if the celebrities played it safe the models never disappoint!
Check out the models:
Now for my best dressed of the night:
Kate Bosworth in Valentino and Sienna Miller in Pucci
Jessica Stam in Rachel Roy
Kirsten Dunst in Rodarte for Gap
Best Quick Change: Camilla Belle in Jason Wu (during and at the after-party)

  1. Great choices! I especially love that Rodarte dress… I'd die to wear it!
