On Friday, Elissa and Renata invited me to go check out our friend Sophie Hughes’ new South End store, Ore. I hadn’t been feeling that great but I figured a girl’s afternoon would cheer me up! Besides, whats more fun than an autumn afternoon in the city? The cold weather hasn’t left me too inspired but I dug deep into my closet for some old pieces to re-imagine for fall.

We settled in to check out Sophie’s latest designs as well as a well edited selection from other young, female designers like Lauren Passenti and Hannah Blount. Sophie’s atelier is just up a wrought-iron staircase so she can work and be on hand for clients while they browse. Shoppers are encouraged to try on pieces and ask about customization. Ore is definitely the new place for one-of-a-kind pieces and artisanal accessories in Boston. I tried on so many rings and necklaces that I might be re-thinking my recent minimalist picks. I wouldn’t mind a few, new pieces under my tree on Christmas morning, at least!

Taking a break inside Ore. I’m totally obsessed with the sofa Sophie found!
