With this collection Lisa Mayock and Sophie Buhai moved Vena Cava out of the after-hours Brooklyn club to the more glossy pre-party hour when “It” girls are perfecting their look and the night seems full of possibility.
There is more polish and more color (a splash of orange here and a bit of baby blue there) but subtle acid washing and safety-pin detailing helps the line grow into a fresher aesthetic without alienating their Brooklyn-dwelling fans.
I really loved the high sash banding that helped to define waists and the subtle tribal theme that seemed to run throughout the collection.
But my favorite part of the show was the matte purple lipstick on the models! It is actually flattering on most skin tones! I use a quick dab of purple lip gloss for day, layer it on heavier at night, and am always amazed by how fantastic it looks! You should give purple a try if you haven’t already!
